The Zebra ZD421 brings enterprise manageability to a compact 4-inch desktop printer. Choose direct thermal for ribbon-free output, traditional thermal transfer for 74- or 300-meter ribbons, or a ZD421C cartridge configuration for quick, one-way ribbon changes.

Five status icons, a three-button interface, OpenACCESS and color-coded touchpoints simplify daily use. Zebra DNA, Link-OS and field-installable connectivity and media-handling options help the printer adapt as labeling requirements change.

Configuration note: Thermal-transfer roll models include a 0.5-inch empty take-up core, two 300 m non-Zebra ribbon-core adapters and an additional 1-inch take-up core. Media, ribbon and option-specific accessories are sold separately unless the selected option states otherwise.

Choose the Right Ribbon Workflow

Roll-ribbon models accept 74-meter ribbon on a 0.5-inch core or 300-meter ribbon on a 1-inch core. ZD421C models use a 74-meter smart cartridge that loads in one direction and reports when ribbon needs replacement. Direct-thermal models require no ribbon.

Media Handling That Can Evolve

Movable reflective and transmissive sensors support die-cut, continuous, black-mark, tag, receipt and wristband media. Optional cutter and dispenser/peeler modules fit different finished-label workflows.

Connect and Manage Your Way

Every ZD421 includes USB 2.0, USB Host, Bluetooth Low Energy for mobile setup and an NFC Print Touch tag. Selected configurations add Ethernet, serial, Wi-Fi 5/Bluetooth or Wi-Fi 6/Bluetooth 5.3.
