The Zebra ZD200 Series is designed for organizations that need dependable everyday printing without paying for unnecessary complexity. Dual-wall construction, OpenACCESS media loading and ENERGY STAR qualification distinguish these value printers from basic models built only around a low purchase price.
This POSGuys family includes the ZD220 and the more capable ZD230. Both support direct thermal or thermal transfer printing, but the ZD230 adds faster output, longer-ribbon support, more connectivity choices and an additional cutter option.

Zebra engineered the ZD200 Series for reliable operation instead of stripping a basic printer down to its least expensive components. The dual-wall frame adds durability, while ENERGY STAR qualification helps reduce operating expense over years of service.
The ZD220 focuses on essential USB-connected printing at up to 4 inches per second. The ZD230 raises speed to 6 inches per second and is the family choice when a longer 300-meter ribbon, factory Ethernet, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity, or a cutter is needed.
USB connectivity provides broad interoperability, and Zebra Setup Utilities streamline initial configuration.
Zebra's OpenACCESS clamshell design opens the media compartment for straightforward loading. Roll-fed or fan-fold supplies can include die-cut and continuous labels, black-mark media, tag stock, receipt paper and wristbands.
A single LED indicator communicates printer status, and one feed/pause button keeps daily operation uncomplicated. The 128 MB Flash and 128 MB SDRAM configuration provides space for fonts and graphics while maintaining the value-focused design.
Select direct thermal printing when ribbon-free operation and shorter label life fit the application, or thermal transfer for durable output using ribbon. Both models print 203 dpi across a maximum 4.09-inch width and support labels up to 39 inches long.
The ZD220 runs at 4 inches per second and uses 74-meter ribbons in thermal transfer configurations. A factory-installed peeler is optional; a cutter and network or wireless interfaces are not listed as ZD220 capabilities.
The ZD230 accepts either 74-meter or 300-meter ribbons, extending time between supply changes. Factory-installed media handling can include a peeler or cutter, and communications choices include USB with Ethernet, USB with Bluetooth 4.1, or USB with 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1.
Zebra provides repair, live-agent technical and software support through its global organization and a trusted network of more than 10,000 partners. Zebra OneCare service plans can add coverage beyond the standard warranty, including normal wear and defined repair turnaround options.
Zebra designs, produces and pretests thermal supplies to support consistent print quality and dependable operation. Choose direct thermal or thermal transfer labels to match the configured print method, and pair thermal transfer models with the correct 74-meter or 300-meter ribbon format.
ZD200 printers run the Link-OS Basic operating system with a core set of Print DNA Basic applications and capabilities.
Zebra Setup Utilities improves the out-of-box experience.
ZebraDesigner Essentials simplifies creation of industry-standard labels with fixed or variable data.
ZPL and EPL support helps replace legacy Zebra printers, while on-printer emulations can interpret selected command languages normally associated with other brands.
Zebra's ZD200 family page also identifies Printer Setup Utilities, PrintSecure and Printer Profile Manager Enterprise as available software resources. Configuration, security and browser-based fleet functions depend on the printer's installed connectivity and software support, so network-management claims are not treated as standard on a USB-only ZD220.
The ZD200 Series is suited to transportation and logistics, light manufacturing, retail and healthcare.
Common workflows include product labels, asset and inventory management, and work-in-process tracking.

Common workflows include patient identification.
Firmware supports ZPL II, EPL 2 and XML, with common 1D and 2D symbologies including Code 128, UPC/EAN, PDF417, Data Matrix, QR Code and Aztec. Unicode-capable font support helps accommodate multilingual on-demand printing.
Zebra lists a two-year standard warranty for ZD200 Series printers against defects in workmanship and materials. Coverage terms and service availability can vary by region and agreement.
Speed, ribbon capacity, connectivity and media-handling options differ substantially between ZD220 and ZD230. This description keeps those distinctions explicit and does not apply ZD230-only wireless, Ethernet, cutter or 300-meter-ribbon capabilities to the ZD220.
