Bi-optic scanning and weighing for busy checkout lanes

The Datalogic Magellan 9900i reads retail 1D and 2D barcodes through horizontal and vertical scan windows. Low-profile construction and diffused lighting keep the checkout area comfortable. Choose a scanner-only configuration or a scanner/scale with the platter, mounting style and regional weighing configuration your lane requires.

Top-down readers, customer-facing readers, color cameras and AI hardware are optional. Product images or video may show accessories not included in the selected package. Check the model's US or Canada scale configuration before ordering.

Packages that include a power brick and cord use the US cord. The Canada metric option refers to the scale configuration, not a different power package.

Comfortable scanning from more angles

Four imaging cameras read across the bi-optic scan zone while diffused illumination reduces glare. An optional top-down reader adds a sixth-side view and expands the scan volume by up to 20%.

Help prevent weighing errors

The All-Weighs platter combines horizontal and vertical weighing surfaces for bulky items. On equipped configurations, ScaleSentry detects items extending beyond the weighing surface and alerts the operator with visual and audible feedback.

Model selection glossary
Platter length: The scanning surface length. Choose a size that fits the counter cutout; available sizes vary by model.
Shelf / flange mount: Shelf mount rests on support below the scanner. Flange mount hangs from brackets resting in countertop recesses.
Produce rail: Supports bulky items above the surrounding counter while weighing. Fixed stays raised; flip-up is movable; flush/no rail has no raised rail. A rail does not include a scale.
Scanner only / scanner-scale: Scanner only reads barcodes; scanner-scale also includes a weighing mechanism. A weight display may be separate.
Adaptive-scale-ready: Designed to accept a compatible third-party scale. The scale and integration hardware are separate.
Scale display: The separate weight readout. No display included does not mean no scale is included.
Color camera: Captures item images for supported applications, such as produce recognition. Compatible processing hardware and software are required.
USB Type-A / RS-232: USB or serial connection to the POS. Cable, host connection and POS software must be compatible.
USB POT: Power Off Terminal: requires a compatible powered USB connection. An ordinary USB-A port may not power the scanner.
Power / cable separate: The power supply powers the scanner; the interface cable connects to the POS. Separate means that item is not included.
Regional scale configuration: Weighing units, display language and approved scale configuration must suit the installation. These are separate from the power-cord type.
Single interval / ScaleSentry: Single interval uses one weighing increment across the scale range. ScaleSentry, when equipped, alerts when items extend beyond the weighing surface.
