Fast Cordless 1D Scanning

The LI4278 captures retail labels, loyalty cards, mobile coupons and high-density 1D codes at up to 547 scans per second. Standard 13 mil UPC-A reads from 1 to 31 inches, 20 mil Code 39 to 42 inches and 200% UPC-A to 55 inches. Motion tolerance reaches 25 inches per second, with broad pitch, skew and roll angles.

The bright Class 1 LED aiming line remains visible across varied lighting. A 3 mil minimum resolution and 15% minimum reflective difference support small and low-contrast 1D codes; this is not a 2D imager.

All-Shift Power

The replaceable battery supports up to 57,000 scans or 72 hours under Zebra’s stated profiles. Industrial charging contacts are rated for more than 250,000 insertions. A worn battery can be replaced without retiring the scanner.

Bluetooth 2.1 provides cordless mobility. The published 330-foot line-of-sight range applies with the presentation cradle; actual coverage depends on cradle, obstacles and radio conditions.

Durable, Flexible Deployment

A single-board design reduces internal failure points. The LI4278 withstands more than 100 consecutive 5-foot drops, survives 6-foot drops and carries IP53 protection against dust and spray, not immersion.

A desktop cradle can connect up to three scanners and mount horizontally or vertically; a presentation cradle supports hands-free use and up to seven scanners. Batch Mode stores more than 500 UPC codes when the scanner leaves radio range.

Interfaces and Compatibility

RS232, RS485 (IBM), USB and Keyboard Wedge support common hosts. The selected cradle and cable determine communication and charging. Compatibility with LS4278 cradles and shared LS4278/DS6878 accessories can preserve installed infrastructure, but every cable and interface must still match the chosen configuration.

Manage the Fleet

123Scan handles programming, while Remote Scanner Management and Scanner Management Services support ongoing configuration. Zebra’s Scanner SDK enables custom application control beyond keyboard-wedge output.
