Versatile Zebra Performance

The DS4678 captures 1D and 2D labels, mobile coupons, loyalty IDs, tickets, DotCode and dotted DataMatrix. PRZM Intelligent Imaging, a megapixel sensor and an 800 MHz processor help decode damaged, low-contrast and awkwardly positioned symbols with fewer retries.

SR and DL configurations read 13 mil UPC from contact to 28 inches and 20 mil QR Code to 17.5 inches. HD and HL models resolve down to 2 mil Code 39 and 4 mil DataMatrix, with typical 13 mil UPC reach to 18 inches. Exact engine and parsing support depend on the selected option.

IP52 sealing, double-sealed optics, a recessed scan window, multiple 6-foot drops and 2,000 tumbles protect checkout, receiving and inventory workflows. Good-decode LEDs, an adjustable beeper and Direct Decode Indicator provide clear confirmation.

The optional presentation cradle enables hands-free scanning and charging, then lets an associate lift the scanner for bulky items. The standard cradle supports desktop, wall or counter mounting and is cross-compatible with Zebra DS8100 Series cordless scanners.

Productivity Features

Label Parse+ structures GS1 fields such as expiration date, lot and manufacture date. Multi-Code Data Formatting captures several symbols with one trigger pull, while Preferred Symbol selects the intended barcode from a group. OCR supports text capture; DL and HL configurations add U.S. driver’s-license parsing. Checkpoint EAS deactivation applies only to compatible HD and HL configurations in the proper EAS environment.

Cordless Power and Control

Bluetooth 5.2 BLE supports Class 1 range to 330 feet and Class 2 to 33 feet. The 2,500 mAh battery is rated for 50,000 scans and more than 13 hours of continuous use; full-charge time ranges from about 2 hours 15 minutes to 7 hours 45 minutes by source. Virtual Tether helps locate scanners, Connect+ supports reliable cradle contact and Wi-Fi Friendly Mode limits wireless-LAN interference.

Auto-host detect cables support USB, RS232, Keyboard Wedge and TGCS (IBM) 46XX. 123Scan handles parameters, firmware, decoded data and programming barcodes. Scanner Management Service, Remote Diagnostics and IoT Connector add remote asset visibility, troubleshooting and event routing; Zebra’s Scanner SDK supports custom applications.
